Internationals have come to Louisville from around the world. They come from all walks of life. They are students, health care workers, business people, and refugees. Many bring their families with them. Some internationals have come because they have family members who live in the area.
Internationals have been coming to our city for a long time. In 1975, Baptist women of LRBA saw a need in our growing international community and responded with a program called "Friendship International Ministry". Each year the number of internationals enrolling in the program increases.
Through Friendship International Ministry, internationals from every part of the world have learned English, Bible, citizenship, and creative activities such as scrapbooking, crafts, quilting, crocheting, cooking, knitting, and sewing. The most important goal is FRIENDSHIP.
Friendships established in the program may last a lifetime.
