OUR HISTORY AND MISSION

The roots of Louisville Rescue Mission trace back to 1888, when former riverboat gambler, Steve Holcombe, became a follower of Christ and incorporated Louisville’s first Gospel-centered mission to the homeless and hurting. Over 120 Years later, LRM continues Holcombe’s simple mission to love and serve those in need by sharing God’s mercy in and through the Gospel. As a result, broken lives are restored and real and lasting hope is provided to individuals in need.

WHAT WE DO TOGETHER (God, His people, and our Ministry Team)
  • Day Shelter—is a safe and welcome place where the homeless and hurting can connect with the community.  While our guests come to utilize our laundry services, free storage, mail service, showers, meals and more, they receive so much more.  It is here guests are connected with individuals and services that can lead them to a godly and growing life.

  • Fresh Start Transitional Housing  - is a Bible-based, Christ-centered, comprehensive 6-month residential, life transformation ministry for troubled men whose lives are out of control as a result of drugs, alcohol or some other destructive behavior pattern.  The program helps them confront life-controlling problems and empowers them to change through:

* Spiritual development * Biblically based counseling

* Vocational and life skill training

* Mentoring relationships with members of local churches

* A strong, structured, Christ-centered community
